Debra has spent most of her career teaching in primary schools around the western suburbs of Melbourne. She has also worked in consultative and coaching roles in both regional and central offices in the department of Education and Training. In the early 2000’s Debra, co-founded and convened the Macintosh Schools Network, a grass-roots teacher network to support ICT leaders in Apple schools. The network ran for ten years.
Debra moved to her current role in 2018 as a Senior Project Officer with the Digital Practice Unit, DET. Regularly running teacher and leadership workshops as a part of this role, allows her to support schools in their planning for innovative learning in contemporary classrooms. She views digital learning as an essential part of education, using digital devices, applications and online tools to ensure deeper thinking, collaboration and broader representations of learning, in all curriculum areas.
