Dr Kaye Lowe, Primary English Teaching Association Australia (PETAA)
Kaye Lowe is Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Canberra and Director of Read4Success. Since completing a PhD at Indiana University (US), she has been a senior academic at the University of Kentucky (US), James Madison University (US), University of Western Sydney, University of Canberra and Research Fellow at Charles Darwin University. She currently works as a literacy consultant in more than thirty Australian schools K-12.
Kaye was Chief Investigator and Evaluator of Reading First in Kentucky and Director of the Kentucky Adult Educators Literacy Institute. She has worked in many literacy and learning contexts including P-12, parent education, adult education, jails and juvenile justice. She works with education systems to bring about change in literacy instruction. She has investigated workplace literacy concerns for government and private sectors.
She is author and creator of i-Read: Literacy Intervention in the Middle and Secondary Years and regularly conducts professional learning and parent education seminars around Australia. She has written six books and numerous articles on literacy learning. Her latest book is “For the love of reading: Supporting struggling readers” (PETAA, 2016). She has been the recipient of many national and international literacy grants, three of which were projects of national significance.
